_ textile as text: a poetry project inspired by the kanga cloth of east africa, zanzibar 2010The dazzling, script-laden kanga cloth textile is worn by girls & women all along the coast of East Africa. This poetry project is inspired by this cloth. Girls & women will read and write poetry influenced by text found on these textiles, with the culminating project being the design, production, and distribution of an original kanga textile with text determined by participants.
